Posters on "Save Earth"

The knowledge gained by the enthusiastic learners about 4Rs during the theme was reflected through their creative and innovative presentation of thoughts in the Posters on "Saving Planet Earth". Thoughtful slogans in different languages enhanced their presentation. They presented their learning in an interesting manner and shared their experience with their peers.

Web Chart

To activate children’s background knowledge on the new topic Pollution, web chart strategy was introduced. The web chart helped children brainstorm everything they know about the topic. It also helped in summarizing what they already know about it and framed a definition of their own.

Tuning In

PYP 3 started their new Theme "How we express ourselves" and for the same learners were taken to the school library where a variety of story books were displayed such as poetry books, biographies, folk tales, fairy tales, informative books, books of quiz, puzzles, facts etc. They were divided into groups and asked to observe the difference in the books. They were very curious to know about the new theme.

Visual Classroom

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. This is true in a learning classroom as much as anywhere else. The more interested and engaged students are, and the more interactive each learning session is, the more students will enjoy, learn from and retain information. Students enjoyed watching videos on renewable and non-renewable sources found on our Earth and their uses. They showed keen interest in gaining the knowledge from the videos, followed by a class discussion.

Best out of Waste

Learners after the Guest lecture were excited to create something on their own.
With  little assistance and guidance from the facilitators, they were able to create various products out of waste.
They felt happy and confident in showcasing the feelings and care for Mother Earth, as a start towards reusing the waste items.

Newspaper learning engagement

Learners searched for various articles from newspapers, magazines and created
a group product in the form of a chart or a collage. They exhibited their research skills while gathering information about facts about Planet Earth, Renewable Non- Renewable resources, the adverse effects of human activities .

Guest Speaker

This week learners had a great experience as a guest lecture was organised. Ms. Swanubhuti, their Art teacher guided the learners how to make beautiful and yet useful things with the waste and disposable materials which is normally thrown away. It was great to see young learners come up with innovative ideas with just a little guidance.

Field Trip!

“Learning is an experience. Everything else is just information.” Believing in the same, PYP 3 was taken to see the Khan Nadi and trenching ground of Indore under the Theme ‘Sharing the planet’. The visit around the city helped them experience and analyse the situation on their own, leading them towards the thought, how human activities impact on the environment.

JIGSAW STRATEGY- Types of pollution

"Jigsaw" technique helps students create their own learning. Learners of PYP 3 were arranged in groups. Each group member was assigned to research a particular type of pollution. Group members then joined with members of other groups who were assigned the same piece of information and shared ideas about the information. They presented their work through charts wherein they wrote and pasted pictures related to the topic.
